The Family College Prep Program (FCPP)

Created in 2019, the Family College Prep Program was designed to increase access to bilingual, professional college advising. A comprehensive, family-centered initiative, the FCPP removes barriers to post-secondary education and empowers families in college admissions and financial aid.

Services offered through the FCPP:

  • One-On-One College Advising

  • Family College Prep Workshops

  • Scholarship Workshops

  • Family Outreach

  • College Campus Visits

  • FAFSA Support

2024-2025 FCPP Impact:

  • 1576 students attended college visits

  • 59 program workshops and events

  • 572 students assisted in completing their FAFSA

The HDF FCPP program was acknowledged in 2023 by Excelencia in Education as one of 8 "Programs to Watch" for its innovative and positive impact, FCPP is culturally responsive, evidence-based, and data-driven, producing life-changing outcomes for students.

FCPP for High Schools

FCPP advisors provide bilingual, professional college advising to families in the secondary education setting. Collaborating alongside counselors and college advisors we serve nine of Kansas City’s largest Latino-serving high schools. Thank you to our high school partners for their invaluable support in making these services accessible to our community.

The Family College Prep Program has eight local college partners that support and collaborate in providing college campus visits, college fairs, and volunteering at various FCPP events throughout the academic year.
