Describe what receiving the HDF scholarship meant to you:

The HDF Scholarship meant so much to me because it made me realize that their are others in the community who were willing to invest in my education and my future.  It helped me recognize and appreciate that I was not alone, and that there were other Latino students like me who wanted to go to college but needed the scholarship to make that happen.

How did your experience as a HDF Scholar help you be successful?

As an HDF Scholar for several years, I knew that there were others counting on me that I did not want to let down, including my parents. I had an expectation to do my best so that I could continue to receive the scholarship, and that helped me to be successful.

What advice would you give to current HDF scholars?

The return on the investment made by others to the HDF Scholarship is how you pay it forward to those that come after you. Many of you will go on to attain your college degree and start successful careers but you must never forget where you came from, and you must reinvest your time and money into the future of others in the community.
